In Time

In a society where time is used as currency and all people stop aging at age 25, a young man, living from day to day scrapping for time to
live on, finds out the truth about the system and is given a chance to do something about it. (Rated PG-13)

Review: A near future dystopia, we're told up front that all will not be revealed as to how things came to pass for this state of being, but will deal purely with the present. Pacing wise this works in their favor, though curiosity wise, I would have liked a little more background on how
things came to be. Still, there is definitely enough there to get a feel for the status quo and its general effect on the different levels of

Loved the little touches. While tech wise most of the things in the film are simple changes, aside from the flesh clocks themselves, its
the people and the way they do things that make you feel you're not home. One beautiful shot comprised a mother-in-law, her daughter, and
her grand daughter and yet they all looked the same age. Some of the habits by some of the characters showed they were older, despite their looks. The speed at which you did things and took life showed class standing (running to save time for instance, while the rich took everything slowly as they had all the time in the world).

A fun film with smarts thrown in. Unlike a lot of man vs society movies, this one actually acknowledges the fact that small actions won't always solve the problems, and even better, can have repercussions that work against the very things you were trying to do.
This doesn't stop the heroes from coming up with a better solution, but it was very nice that it was even there. (So many ignore that actions
sometimes have adverse reactions!)

Even better, I liked that they showed that being rich wasn't all the glamor everyone in this world assumed. Or that even if you came from
the same background, those who found a way out would not want to acknowledge it or have empathy for those left behind. Even the fact that
getting a lot of time at once wasn't always the best thing for certain people.

The film picks up a Bonnie and Clyde feel during the later part of the film that I found interesting. Though this couple does
similar things, they do it for totally different reasons and don't kill for sport, but could very well be heading for the same ending.

There were only a couple of minor glitches with regards to a camera angle and video available to the Time keepers or how Will got
driving or shooting experience, but overall was pretty solid. There were several twists and left turns, which kept the whole thing exciting and

Lots of action, shootings, driving, and light comedy moments. A couple of very poignant spots as well.

Definitely worth a watch!

"What are you implying?"

The magister glided forward and scrunched down beside him.

It took everything from her, except revenge!

The muscles in my right arm jerked from tension as I tried to make it move and it resisted. A shrill scream inside my head insisted I didn't want to do this. That if I did, there'd be no way to take it back. "I...I'm afraid."

Which is worse…the monster without or within?

Home—family—the two things he would never have, the two things forever denied him…because of her.

Anger welled inside him, the heat of it suffusing him to the core, gurgling with seething emotions the total opposite of the coolness splashing down from the fountain nearby. Before he realized what he was doing, Jarrin stepped inside the gazebo.

“Do you need any help?” she asked. “Just tell me what you want me to do. If you prefer, I’m sure I can round up at least a few people to come over and give you a hand.”

Kel slowly shook his head. “It’s all right. Thanks anyway.” His voice lowered to where she almost couldn’t hear it. “This is all part of my punishment.’

She frowned, not understanding what he meant. “Punishment?”

Kel cocked his head in Clarence’s direction. In a flash, she understood. None of this was an accident. Clarence had landed there deliberately, hoping to make Kel pay for all he went through in the past month. She shook her head, not wanting to believe this, but what the dragon said next took any doubts right out of her head.

Panic and fear filled with utter helplessness made her dizzy. She knew what would be done with her, she knew what they planned. But there was nothing she could do to stop any of it.

Sharp gasps echoed in her ears as she felt the room’s cold air caress the Eye.

“You were right. She is the one.”

Laying the blade on the floor before him, Toshi parted his kimono until his stomach lay exposed. He tucked his sleeves beneath his legs to hold him upright if he should falter. Ignoring Asano, he took up the blade. His shoulder flared with pain and he tried not to flinch, as he grabbed the blade with both hands. He turned the wakizashi until its sharp point was aimed at his belly, the residence of his soul.

Torren took a step back a sudden shudder racking through him. It was as if he’d never left, as if the boy he’d been would be coming back-though the one who’d loved this room and all these things was long, long dead. That boy died when he’d watched his father’s blood pour forth from his mouth, the end of a sword protruding from his abdomen. That boy died when he survived while everyone else lay dead.
